How To BBQ Tri Tip – Smoked Tri Trip Recipe

Preparation:
Heat your grill to 250 degrees.
Season your tri tip meat. I like to use:
Instructions:
Evenly shake your rub on your tri-tip.
Place your tri tip on the smoker and cook until the internal temperature is 120 degrees. If you like it more well done – you can take it to 130 or so.
Pull your tri tip from your grill when it’s reached the desired temp and tent with Aluminum foil.
Raise your grill temp & Sear
Raise your grill temp to 500+ to get it ready to sear.
I will normally sear mine (3) times each side at 2 min per side.
Cook to the temp that you like your meat done. I cook until 135 degrees
Once you are done – pull your tri tip from the grill and tent for 10 minutes on a plate before cutting.
VERY IMPORTANT – You need to make sure to cut your tri tip properly
How Do You Cut Tri Tip?
You want to cut your smoked tri tip in 2 directions. Find the place where the 2 grains cross and cut through that spot vertically. This will make 2 pieces.
You will want to cut across the grains when cutting and I recommend slices that are not too thick.
