What is the best beer for beer can chicken?
The most popular beers for beer can chicken are lagers and light beers. I generally reach for a coors light or bud light because I’m not really looking to flavor the meat with a strong beer.
Instructions:
Heat the smoker to 225 and put your favorite wood on.
Remove the chicken from the packaging and remove the innards.
Rinse Chicken and pat dry.
Put your favorite rub on the chicken Grab your beer can and rinse it off.
Crack the beer and take a few sips so that the beer can has a little room at the top.
If you have a beer can chicken stand – put the beer in the beer can chicken stand.
If you don’t have a stand, put the can of beer up the chicken.
Put the Chicken on the grill and cook until the breast is 165 degrees minimum.
It should look something like this when it’s 165.
You can rub BBQ sauce on the chicken when it gets close to temp. Normally, If I put BBQ sauce on, I will put the sauce on, close the grill for 10 min, reapply the sauce, close for 10 min, then do a final sauce and close for 10 min.
Pull the chicken when it’s done and let sit for 10 + minutes.
When you are cutting the chicken – I normally will wear gloves because the chicken is really hot and burns the hands.
